Mrs. Sen: A Tale of Two Women and One Man
Mrs. Sen is a 2013 Bengali drama film directed by Agnidev Chatterjee and starring Rituparna Sengupta, Hrishitaa Bhatt and Rohit Roy in the lead roles. The film explores the theme of infidelity and its consequences on the lives of two women who share the same husband.
The film begins with Anuradha (Rituparna Sengupta), a simple housewife in Kolkata, who receives a phone call informing her that her husband Somnath (Rohit Roy), a successful businessman, has met with a fatal accident in Thailand and is in coma. She rushes to Thailand to see him, only to discover that he has another wife, Sohini (Hrishitaa Bhatt), and a son there. Anuradha is shocked and heartbroken by this revelation, but she decides to stay and take care of Somnath's son and Sohini's brother, who were also injured in the accident.
Sohini, on the other hand, is a modern and independent woman who runs a boutique in Pattaya. She also loves Somnath dearly and is unaware of his marriage with Anuradha. When she regains consciousness, she is equally stunned and angry to see Anuradha in her house. She confronts Somnath, who confesses his dual life and begs for forgiveness. He dies soon after, leaving both the women in grief and confusion.
Anuradha wants to take Somnath's ashes back to India for his last rites, but Sohini insists that they should be scattered in the Himalayas, as per his wish. Sohini also learns that she has internal injuries and only a few days to live. She requests Anuradha to stay with her till the end and look after her son. Anuradha agrees, despite her resentment towards Sohini. Gradually, a strange bond develops between the two women, as they share their memories, pain and love for Somnath.
The film ends with Anuradha fulfilling Sohini's last wish and spreading her ashes along with Somnath's in the Himalayas. She also adopts Sohini's son and returns to India with him.
